Dr. Melanie Barham talks to Dr. Mike Pownall, the Pan Am Games' Vet Services Manager, Dr. Duncan Peters, the Foreign Veterinary delegate, Dr. Geoff Vernon, Canadian dressage team veterinarian, and Roger Lauze, from the Massachusetts SPCA, who operates the Equine Ambulance at the games. They discuss some additional veterinary roles at the Pan Am games, how infection control and biosecurity is being handled here, and how the welfare of the horse is considered at the games. Dr. Vernon shares what his role as team vet entails, and discusses disease and illness prevention when shipping horses.
